Shorthand Training Courses

Shorthand is a way of writing very quickly using abbreviated symbols.  We train in Teeline which is quicker and easier to learn than the original Pitman method.

Shorthand was used widely in the past and was was considered an essential part of secretarial training as well as being useful for journalists.  However, it is still a very useful skill to have on your CV as many organisations need to record complete and accurate minutes of meetings and many jobs stipulate it as a requirement.  Tape or digital recorders can be used but they have to be transcribed at a later date whereas notes written in shorthand are instantaneously available and can be selectively typed up for reporting purposes.

Our training is done primarily in our training centre using a combination of workbooks, dictionaries and audio files.  Unlike distance or home learning one of our tutors is always on-hand and our students benefit from the focus that learning in a training centre brings.  As well as training individual students we can organise one to one training, or classroom training in our centre or at a client's office.  We have trained many journalists and medical secretaries in this way for example.
