These are a few of the most frequently asked questions:

How do the courses work?

The majority of our courses are taught by a combination of workbooks, audio commentary and tutor support.  This means that most, if not all the training is done in our training centre.

Will I get any support during my learning?

Yes, there is always experienced support on hand to help with any questions you may have.

Can I study at home or online?

As the workbooks belong to you you're welcome to take the workbooks home and practice or revise but the audio commentary and tutor support is only available in our training centre.  We no longer offer online courses as our students tell us that they are not as successful as our training centre based ones.

How do your courses compare to those at my local college?

The main difference is that our courses are totally flexible.  You can typically start them when you want to and do them at times and on days to suit you.  Another difference is that you can go at your own pace so you don't have to be worry about being the fastest or slowest in the class.

Are there examinations or tests?

Yes, all our courses have include a test however you do the test when you are ready to do it.  When complete we send it off to be independently marked.  If you pass you will get a Pitman Training certificate in the subject.

Are Pitman courses accredited?

As an option, all our courses offer some form of accreditation by awarding bodies such as OCR, Microsoft, City & Guilds or the British Computer Society therefore you know you are studying a recognised qualification.

English is not my first language, are the courses OK for me?

Yes they are.  Many of our students are not native English speakers.  As our courses are self paced you can go at your own speed and ask for help whenever you need it.

How long does it take to complete a course?

Each course has a guideline number of hours that will give you an estimate of how long it will take.

Do you have any funded courses?

Yes we do, they include bookkeeping, office skills and legal secretarial courses for qualifying candidates.
